North Florida Soaring Society
The purpose of this club shall be to provide safe flying facilities and equipment for its members on a non-profit basis and to encourage their education and development as competent and safety conscious aviators by making available ground and flight training in sailplanes. It shall also be the purpose of this club to promote soaring locally and nationally through the sponsorship and participation in demonstrations and other educational or scientific activities to further the art of soaring.
No Experience Required
Schedule a flight with one of our pilots today and discover for yourself the beauty and excitement of gliding. Our Educational Flight puts you in the front seat of our aircraft. You’ll start with a takeoff behind our tow plane up to altitude. Several thousand feet later, your flight above the Jacksonville area begins. The ride concludes with a landing on the grass strip of Herlong Airport.

Affordable Rates
Aviation can be expensive. However, gliders are much more affordable due to the fact that there’s no engine or fuel. Soaring improves the ‘stick-and-rudder’ skills used by pilots of all aircraft.
